The TANEC PRAHA festival is in full swing. The first festival premiere took place last Tuesday in the foothills of Broumov. Flávia Tápias combined dancers from Brazil, the Czech Republic and Ukraine in the performance Rotas Afora and guided us through the route (rotas) of their common passion to dance.

We ceremoniously opened the Prague part of the program in the PONEC theater with a world premiere of GRAND JETÉ by Silvia Gribaudi. Nothing could start the festival better than the energy of the Italian dancers and Silvia's ever-present wit.

On Saturday, the program continued with a performance for the smallest audience of Neényi, and on Sunday we watched breathtaking stories through a full-day sequence of performances as part of the Focus Ukraine line.

Last week was really busy. We open this one tonight with a solo performance by Yasmeen Godder: Practicing Empathy#3. And what awaits us together in the next few days?

IMMERSION IN SOUND, DANCE AND VISUAL ARTS

Pietro Marullo (IT/BE): WRECK - The list of extinct species

We will present WRECK - The list of extinct species three times. Twice in the premises of the Small Hall of the Fair Trade Palace and the third time we will move to Štvanice island. The main protagonist of this genre-crossing production is a floating colossal black entity. Is this a sea monster, the embodiment of capitalism or climate change? It is up to you. What is certain is that you don't want to meet it and let yourself be chased and tossed around like a group of performers. WRECK is not a science fiction film, but a reflection of reality and human vulnerability. But even in the darkness there can be a glimmer of hope that we can regain our freedom. Pietro Marullo is collaborating with local performers on the production in Prague.

A SOURCE OF HOPE AND CONTAGIOUS ENERGY

Jan Martens (BE): any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones

What more could you want in today's polarized, hostile world than a little humanity and belonging? Belgian choreographer Jan Martens and seventeen performers draw us in in an instant. It doesn't matter if we are eighteen or seventy-one as the youngest and oldest performers on stage.

Each one is different, with a distinctive voice and own experience and skills, yet together they form one entity. The protest songs in the background remind us of the challenges we are forced to face, yet the production is a source of hope and infectious energy - not only thanks to the grandiose finale, that won't let us sit still.

19. 6. | 20:00 | Hybernia Theatre, Prague

AEROWAVES EVENING

Jacopo Jenna (IT): Some choreographies

Olga Dukhovnaya (FR/UA): Swan Lake Solo

On our home stage of the PONEC theater, we will present an evening composed of works by Aerowaves, a platform supporting the work of young European choreographers. During the evening, you will have the opportunity to see two performances, followed by an After Talk with the creators.

In the performance Some choreographies directed by Jacopo Jenny, the performer Ramona conducts an incessant dialogue with a fast sequence of videos that are a parade of all possible ways of human movement. The dancer mirrors what is happening on the screen and with her expression breathes life, a third dimension and new values and meanings into the existing 2D material.

Olga Dukhovnaya, in collaboration with the composer Anton Svetlichny, performed her own version of Swan Lake with the aim of creating a modern performance from this classic ballet. The intention to create a performance on a large scale, after two years of quarantine, was struck by the war conflict. The Ukrainian choreographer reworked the original concept and focused the entire ballet ensemble on herself.

21. 6. | 20:00 | PONEC - dance venue

SELECTION FROM THE REGIONS

Věra Ondrašíková a kol.: STORIES

About trees and people from a different perspective... Many of us think of the most famous, iconic stage setting of the 20th century, the lonely withered tree in Beckett's Waiting for Godot. He is a witness to the times and their fateful twists and defeats. Choreographer and dancer Věra Ondrašíková cast the tree in a series of dance roles in the production, in which not only its functions and meanings change, but so do its miraculous transformations over time.

15. 6. | 19:00 | Municipal Cultural Center Vimperk, Vimperk

POCKETART / Johana Pocková, Sabina Bočková: Lion's Den UNLIMITED

The Jáma lvová UNLIMITED project is based on the original duet of Sabina Bočková and Johana Pocková. The performance brings together professional and non-professional dancers who, after completing a several-day workshop, always create a new performance based on the original Lion's Den performance. The performance with heightened emotional charge and high intensity, accompanied by live original music by Lukáš Palán, is inspired by the media, populism and their manipulative powers.

16. 6. | 18:00 | Elementary School Karlovy Vary Šmeralova 15, Karlovy Vary
21. 6. | 18:00 | Choceň Castle - courtyard, Choceň

POCKETART / Johana Pocková, Sabina Bočková, Inga Zotova-Mikshina: Treatment of Remembering

"Imagine that you are breathing." Together with the audience, three female performers undergo the "Treatment of Remembering" procedure at a time when the human-exhausted nature no longer exists, and they remember it in poetic dance images. The original theatrical production is set in an outdoor space and the internal experience is in direct confrontation with the real living world. The sensitivity of the sound design and the author's music intensifies the intensity of sensory perception, thus completing the work filled with the constant vibration of creation and disappearance in direct contact with the viewer.

18. 6. | 16:30 | Monastery Gardens, Litomyšl

The performance will be presented in cooperation with the Smetanova Litomyšl festival.

Cécila Da Costa: Zero etc.

Can we tell beautiful stories even when facing a disaster? Zero etc. is a performance-dialogue of choreographer and performer Cécile Da Costa, her eight-year-old daughter Thelma, and performer Lukáš Karásek. “Mom, when I grow up, will there still be fish in the oceans?” It's hard to imagine the future. Models, paradigms fail. So let's start from the beginning, from nothing, from point zero. There we find an infinite space of lines, shapes, dimensions... Three people can meet there... The time has come, the story can begin: Once upon a time... Cécile Da Costa's author's production was created at a time when she had to stop and just observe. She began to think about the future and the unknown prospects.
