Charlotta Öfverholm

Charlotta Öfverholm’s class is formed by her background both as a highly techniqual dancer and as an actress and former DV8 Physical Theatre member. It starts with a physical and techniqual warm up with both floor work and barre , followed by choreographic phrases and variations, where dynamics changes from power to more lyrical movements.
Since the start of Compagnie Jus de la Vie in 1995, its founder and artistic director Charlotta Öfverholm has created over 20 productions that have toured around Europe, North and South America and Africa. Her work is physical dance theatre with depth, irony, brutality and humor. Öfverholm is a graduate of UCLA in Film/TV/Video and from The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Los Angeles and Alvin Ailey's American Dance Theatre. She has worked as a dancer with numerous choreographers and companies in America and all around Europe among them DV 8 Physical Theatre / Lloyd Newson, Bill T. Jones Arnie Zane Company, Sean Curran, Complexions in NYC, Roberto Galván / Tanzcompagnie Giessen, Joseph Tmim / Toláda in Berlin, Ramon Oller / Metros in Barcelona, Robert Poole / Ballet Linz, Cie Corinne Lanselle in Paris. She has also extensively cooperated with Czech artists: a few years ago she co-worked with Czech dancer and choreographer Jan Kodet, in 2011 she created the choreography Found & Lost for the Czech contemporary dance company VerTeDance. She also choreographs films and documentaries, among them Bortkopplad and Holiday by Anna Duell.
Ty Boomershine

His class is framed by the dance technique of a Cunningham class as well as incorporating elements from the many choreographers he has worked with which allows for an engaged neutrality that is useful to navigate through various approaches to movement. His class focuses on rhythmic, spatial, and physical clarity, encouraging the use of mental as well as physical prowess. Leaving behind the idea of a fixed “front”, the class explores the use of all spatial directions and works with the concept of using the center of the body as a generator for movement, freeing the extensions of the body to work independently, while combining this with a sense of coordination and multi-tasking throughout the body.
Ty Boomershine was trained at the Fort Hayes School for the Performing Arts in Columbus, Ohio and earned his B.F.A. in dance from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. As a dancer he has worked with several young emerging artists as well as established companies, such as Merce Cunningham repertory ensemble, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane & Co., Gus Solomons Jr., Dance Works Rotterdam. Currently he co-works with Lucinda Childs Dance, arranging and developing workshops, tours, creative and educational residencies, and teaching. He has presented his own work for example at Movement Research in New York or at Holland Festival in Amsterdam. As a teacher Ty has taught the several academies, universities and festivals as well as at a number of dance companies, among them Dansgroep Amsterdam, Dance Works Rotterdam, Emio Greco | PC, Krisztina de Chatel and the above-mentioned Lucinda Childs Dance.
!We recommend a workshop with the British performer and the former member of the DV8 Physical Theatre Wendy Houston that will be held in Jun 4–8 within the ImproEvents Prague at Studio ALTA!
