TANEC PRAHA festival 2011 cares for children
Following the tradition established during its past editions, the XXIIIrd festival of contemporary dance and movement theatre TANEC PRAHA 2011 will offer a rich programme for kids and their parents. Ponec theatre will host dance-theatre projects of the groups Stage Code, Kyklos Galaktikos and VerTeDance or the creative tandem Jana Látalová (Hudečková) and Marta Trpišovská. The programme is designed for kids from the age of 5 to 15. Dana Nekardová, the co-ordinator of the programme, explains: „The programme includes both morning performances for schools and afternoon performances, starting at 5 pm, that are open to general public.“
The piece Kingdom without Borders will offer a unique chance for children to become part of the creative team right on stage of Ponec theatre: together with the artists from Kyklos Galaktikos, they will be given a chance to create their own fairy tale characters. These will then be brought to life in an improvised story by means visual and sound technology.
Dancing and learning about theatre and light technology: that’s what kids will be offered to do during a workshop follow up to the piece Baring our Souls (S kůží na trh). A project that astounded both experts and general public primarily because it lifts the veil to the kitchen where dance and theatre are cooked.
And that is not all: performers from the group Stage Code have created a piece for children from the age of 5 called Mumráj. It tells a story of a special house that will complicate the life of its neighbours.
Last but not least, the programme will offer a dance adaptation of Little Prince by VerTeDance. Their choreography Fourty Three Sunsets, a gentle duet of an adult dancer and a little boy, is bound to charm everyone, whether adult or child, who hasn't yet given up dreaming. The title of the piece refers to the Little Prince: when he was staying at the smallest of all planets he could see as many sunsets as he wished for. At last, he saw 43 of them, each of them carrying away a little bit of his sorrow and homesickness.
The festival will also offer accompanying programme: it will take place from 23rd to 25th May and it will culminate on 1st June, a symbolical date marking the International Children's Day, when children will be offered an afternoon interactive programme at Ponec theatre. It will be followed by performances of ensembles participating at the national festival of children groups of scenic dance Kutná Hora 2011. “The whole festival week will also see a series of interactive workshops for kids at elementary schools where Dance and Movement Education is being taught during the year within the project Dance to Schools. The public will then have the chance to come and se an open presentation of the workshops at Ponec theatre in the afternoons,“ adds Nekardová. Furthermore, everyone is encouraged to come and join a discussion on the project of Dance and Movement Education – it will be held on 25th May at 6 pm at Ponec theatre.
Tickets for 80 CZK per child / 100 CZK per adult are on sale from 20th April at Ponec theatre. Tickets for workshop presentations are on sale for 40 CZK per person. For further information please check www.tanecdetem.cz or www.tanecpraha.cz
